An Evening of Puzzles with Will Shortz

Will Shortz, editor of The New York Times Crossword Puzzle and Puzzlemaster on NPR's Weekend Edition, will present an evening of puzzles and fun at the Flourtown Country Club in Springfield Township, Montgomery County.
Mr. Shortz will host the Springfield event with his long-time friend Doug Heller, who is running for Commissioner in Springfield. Heller has been a judge at the American Crossword Puzzle Tournament since its founding, by Mr. Shortz, in 1978.
The event includes:
- Complimentary dinner with cash bar
- A series of word games hosted by Will Shortz
- Screening of the acclaimed documentary film Wordplay
- Win the raffle and play the Puzzle with Will Shortz (in the style of his NPR program). Doug will play the role of Liane Hansen to help.
- Meet and talk about puzzles with Will Shortz and Doug Heller
Will Shortz, who is well-known by puzzle enthusiasts across the globe, has published over 100 crossword books and 50 Sudoku books, is the founder of the World Puzzle Championship and Director of the U.S. Puzzle Team, and has appeared as a guest on shows such as Oprah and the Daily Show. He hosts the Sudoku National Championship, held in Philadelphia. Will has been the Puzzlemaster on NPR's Weekend Edition Sunday since the program's start in 1987.
Doug Heller, a former crossword puzzle editor and current professional webmaster is running for First Ward Commissioner in Springfield Township, Montgomery County. He is a board member of Hope Lodge and of the Independence Hall Association. He is also the Webmaster to the Puzzlemaster!
Wordplay, the movie, provides a glimpse at the weird and wonderful world of the annual American Crossword Puzzle Tournament. It features Shortz along with a host of celebrities including Jon Stewart, Bill Clinton, Bob Dole, Mike Mussina, and the Indigo Girls. Heller appears in the film. Wordplay was an official selection for the 2006 Sundance Festival and the 2006 Tribeca Film Festival. (Official website)
American Crossword Puzzle Tournament. Directed by New York Times Crossword Puzzle Editor Will Shortz, this is the nation's oldest and largest crossword competition. The 31st annual competition will be held February 29-March 2, 2008, at the Brooklyn Bridge Marriott in New York. (Official website)
