Letter to Neighbors, May 17, 2011
Note: This letter was sent to 34 of the neighboring properties.
The Township of Springfield
Montgomery County, Pennsylvania
Township Building, 1510 Paper Mill Rd., Wyndmoor, PA 19038
Dear Neighbors:
The Park and Recreation Department has requested the permission of the Township Board of Commissioners to re-establish the Township-owned athletic field adjacent to the Wyndhill Professional Center as an active recreation field.
For several years following the Township's acquisition of the property from the School District, the Township used the field for Softball and soccer, but recently, the field has only been used informally by the community, especially dog owners.
The field is too small to accommodate high school age activities, but it is large enough to fill a need for youth soccer and youth lacrosse. The project is in the very early planning stage, but the plan is not much more than to regrade the field to eliminate the remnants of the old Softball fields and the natural ruts.
The purpose of this letter is to solicit comments from the immediate neighbors. If the project proceeds, it would not begin until this Autumn. Therefore, if you would like to share your thoughts, it would be great to hear from you over the next couple of weeks. I would prefer the comments in written form so they can be shared. You can use the above address, or dberger@springfieldmontco.org. Thank you.
Very truly yours, Donald E. Burger, Township Manager
