Sports Conduct Agreement

Purpose:

Youth Programs in our Township Parks play an important role in the physical and social development of our children. It is essential for parents, coaches, spectators, volunteers, and officials to encourage good sportsmanship to our children. As an employee or volunteer, I promise to strictly follow the rules and guidelines in this Volunteer's Code of Conduct as a condition of my providing services to the children and youth of our community.

Conduct Guidelines:

We ask that all adults or others participating in programs sponsored by our Parks and Recreation department pledge to be responsible for your words and actions when participating in Youth Sports Programs and other Youth Activities and shall conform to the following Code of Conduct:

  1. I will promote sportsmanlike conduct with all volunteers, players, or any other attendees.
  2. I will not engage in any activities that may endanger the health and well being of any volunteer, player, or other attendee.
  3. I will avoid situations were I am alone with children.
  4. I will treat everyone with respect, loyalty, patience, integrity, courtesy, dignity and consideration.
  5. I will not use drugs, alcohol, or tobacco products while at a youth sports or other events and will not attend, coach, officiate, or participate in a youth sports or other events under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
  6. I will encourage all children not to use drugs, alcohol, or tobacco.
  7. I will not engage in the use of profanity or any other offensive language.
  8. I will not encourage any children, or any other person, to use profanity or any other offensive language.
  9. I will not engage in verbal or physical threats or abuse aimed at any coach, parent, player, child, participant, official, or any other attendee.
  10. I will not touch a child in a sexual or other inappropriate manner.
  11. I will not strike, spank, shake or slap any youth for any reason.
  12. I will not use any discipline that frightens or humiliates any child.
  13. I will not humiliate, ridicule, threaten or degrade any children, parents, volunteers, coaches or referees.
  14. I will not initiate a fight or scuffle, or retaliate with any coach, parent, player, participant, official, or any other attendee.
  15. I will report any suspected abuse or misconduct of children to the appropriate supervisor immediately.

I understand that as a volunteer working with children and or youth, I am subject to a thorough background check including criminal history. I understand that any actions inconsistent with this Code of Conduct or failure to take action mandated by this Code of Conduct may result in my removal as a volunteer with children and / or youth.
